Dr. Darren Mollick, MD, is a dermatologist at Long Island Skin Cancer & Dermatologic Surgery, serving Smithtown, Patchogue, Commack, Stony Brook, Huntington, Bay Shore, Hauppauge, Central Islip, Deer Park, Coram and all surrounding areas. Darren Mollick, MD was born and raised on Long Island. He graduated from Jericho High School in 1991 and then began his undergraduate studies in biology at Syracuse University. He graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse in 1995 where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He then enrolled in the College of Medicine of SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn in 1995 to begin his studies in medicine, where he was elected to the national medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. After rotating through many medical subspecialties, he found an interest in dermatology, performing research in skin biology and melanoma. He received his M.D. degree in 1999, becoming a second generation physician and matched to a dermatology residency program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Dr. Mollick began his post-graduate medical training in internal medicine at Winthrop University Hospital in 1999. He then began his residency training in dermatology at SUNY Downstate in 2000 and was elected to be chief dermatology resident in 2002. After completing his dermatology residency in 2003, he began a Mohs surgery Fellowship training program affiliated with SUNY Downstate which was completed in 2004. During this training program, sponsored by the American College of Mohs Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, he performed more than 1,000 cases of Mohs surgery and reconstruction for all types of skin cancer. He also was integral in starting the Mohs surgery unit at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery.

Dr. Mollick has a keen interest in the surgical treatment for all types of skin cancers. As a Fellowship trained Mohs surgeon, he is proficient in the surgical treatment of skin cancer acting as surgeon, pathologist and reconstructive surgeon. With the Mohs technique, the skin cancer is removed with precise histologic control to confirm complete removal. The defect can then be repaired with the confidence that the tumor is fully removed and Dr. Mollick then functions as reconstructive surgeon.

In addition to practicing surgical dermatology, Dr. Mollick has an interest in cosmetic dermatology. He performs various cosmetic procedures, such as laser surgery, Botox and dermal filler injections.

He actively lectures on the local and national level and teaches other physicians, medical students and physician assistant students. He has authored textbook chapters on skin cancer and medical journal articles in the dermatology literature. He is also a consultant dermatologist for Estee Lauder and is an attending physician at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset and Syosset.

Professional society memberships on the national level include the American Academy of Dermatology, the American College of Mohs Surgery and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. On a local level, he is a member of the New York State Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, the Long Island Dermatological Society, the Suffolk County Dermatology Society, the Suffolk County Medical Society and the Medical Society of the State of New York.

His hobbies include skiing, golfing, watching the Yankees and most importantly, spending time with his wife and two children.
