Dr. Dennis H. Nguyen, MD, is a dermatologist at Long Island Skin Cancer & Dermatologic Surgery, serving Smithtown, Patchogue, Commack, Stony Brook, Huntington, Bay Shore, Hauppauge, Central Islip, Deer Park, Coram and all surrounding areas. Dennis H. Nguyen, MD is currently the Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology Fellow at Long Island Skin Cancer and Dermatologic Surgery, a teaching site of the Department of Dermatology at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn.

Dr. Nguyen grew up in Orange County, California. After high school, he attended the University of California at Berkeley, earning Phi Beta Kappa honors and a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology.

Following graduation, he continued his research at the University of California, San Francisco where he studied the role of dendritic cells in melanoma immunotherapy and also sentinel lymph node biopsies in the management of melanoma and breast cancer.

As a prestigious Regent’s Scholar’s at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, he received an outstanding foundation in medicine and surgery. He completed internship at UCLA-Harbor Medical Center before leaving California to begin a dermatology residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Here, his clinical training involved serving a truly broad and varied patient population in all aspects of dermatology. He engaged in bench research, studying the role of UVB and interleukin-6 in melanoma growth in mice. In his final year of residency, he was appointed Chief Resident of the VA Hospital in Cleveland, maintaining his interest in serving the veteran population.

Dr. Nguyen is committed to the study and treatment of cutaneous tumors and is honored to be receiving Fellowship training under Drs. Siegel, Mollick, and Wong.  He is also proud to be serving veterans at the VA Hospital in Brooklyn. He currently resides in Farmingdale.

Outside the office, Dr. Nguyen enjoys snowboarding, the beach, traveling, sporting events, and all things related to his alma mater, the University of California. Go Bears!

He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
